Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) in Commercial Law

 

The Department of Law of the Faculty of Law, Economics, and Finance is searching for an Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) in Commercial Law.



Your Role...

The new Assistant Professor (tenure track) in Commercial Law should strengthen the Research Area “Banking, financial and commercial law” in the Department of Law which is one of the key areas in both teaching and research within the department. This Research Area “Banking, financial and commercial law” provides for a broad coverage of foundational courses in the Bachelor in Law program, as well as in the three other bachelor programs of the faculty. Namely, the Bachelor in Economics, the new Bachelor in Business Administration (as well as the current Bachelor en Gestion) and the Bachelor in Accounting and Taxation which each contain several commercial law courses (general principles of business law, company law, financial and banking law). This large volume of foundational course offer is augmented by two specialized master programmes: the Master in European Banking and Financial Law and the Master in Investment Fund Law, as well as, the teaching needs in the Certificate in Law and Regulation of Inclusive Finance, the Certificate in Sustainable Finance, and commercial law courses in the Master in Finance and Economics (FinTech Regulation, Sustainable Finance and Law etc).


The Assistant Professor in Commercial Law (tenure track) is expected to contribute to the general teaching needs of the Department of Law in bachelor, master and doctoral school and be qualified to teach courses in English and in French. Knowledge of German is considered as an advantage.


He/she will be in charge of courses related to commercial law in general at the master and bachelor level in law, as well as in economics, finance, management and other cooperation partners of the law department, including the SnT.


She/he will develop specialised courses in commercial law in the master in European banking and financial law, in Investment fund law as well as in masters in the other departments of the faculty (Economics and Management; Finance).


In line with the general expectations in the Department of Law, the Assistant Professor should have expertise in Luxembourg commercial law as well as an interest in European and comparative law.

Qualifications...


  • PhD degree in Law on a topic of commercial law with a specialization in one of the following fields: Banking and Financial law or Company law or Insolvency Law
  • The candidate must have a proven track record of (a) publications or papers in the publication process (e.g., R&Rs) in top law journals as well as (b) presentations at top law conferences
  • The candidate shall show clear signs of continued productivity of highest quality research (e.g., a strong pipeline of working papers and work-in-progress projects) with good chances of publications in the top law journals
  • The candidate shall have teaching experience, at the undergraduate as well as the graduate level, and in areas in commercial law in general, but also in more specialized fields such as Banking and Financial law / Company law / Insolvency Law
  • The University of Luxembourg is set in a multilingual context. The person hired on this position must be proficient in French and English. The University encourages its staff to learn German and provides access to language courses to this end
