Allogenic stem cell transplantation is undertaken in cooperation with UKGM, Marburg Campus. The development and establishment of new cellular therapy procedures will also be carried out in close collaboration with the UKGM, Marburg Campus.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to existing collaborative research consortia and research focuses of the JLU’s Faculty of Medicine, including the Cluster of Excellence “Cardio-Pulmonary Institute (CPI), the area of potential “Infections, Inflammation and Medicines”, and the accent areas “Translational Oncology” and “Reparation and Regeneration”. In addition, the professorship is expected to participate in other ongoing and planned collaborative research projects. In particular, the future candidate is intended to play a pivotal role in the establishment of a Hessen-wide Comprehensive Cancer Center (CCC), in cooperation with University Hospitals in Marburg and Frankfurt am Main.

The professorship is integrated into the curricular teaching to be provided by UKGM, Giessen Campus, in the course of studies in medicine.

Collaboration in other existing structures of the Faculty of Medicine for the promotion of young scientists and clinicians, such as the structured graduate program “JLU-TRAINEE” and the clinician scientist program “JLU-CAREER” is desired. This also applies to the cooperation with the Giessen Graduate Centre for the Life Sciences (GGL).

The universities of Giessen and Marburg and the University of Applied Sciences in Central Hessen are working together in a research alliance (Research Campus of Central Hessen) as a structured cooperation based on coordinated priorities. It is expected that the applicant shows cooperativeness to university and department-wide collaborative projects. In particular, cross university/hospital patient-oriented clinical research and the participation in joint clinical studies is expected.

An integration of gender aspects in research, teaching, and patient care is explicitly desired.

Prerequisites for the position include a successfully completed university education in medicine, the necessary qualification for scientific work according to § 67 Para. 1 HessHG, usually proven by a doctorate with merit, and further pertinent academic achievements (e.g. habilitation or internationally recognized subject-specific publications). Your scientific and clinical competence should be proven by many years of experience in management positions.

You are internationally recognized in your field of research and must have extensive expertise in basic oncological research as well as translational research. Success in independent acquisition and management of externally funded projects (preferably DFG, BMBF, EU) is a prerequisite.
