The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for aW2 Professorship in Veterinary Anatomy, Histology and Embryology as of October 1st, 2024. Reference is made to § 67 Para. 7 Hessian Higher Education Act (HessHG) and to conditions of employment based on § 68 HessHG. Proficient knowledge of German is expected. Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching of Veterinary Anatomy, Histology and Embryology, together with the other professorships at the Institute of Veterinary Anatomy, Histology and Embryology. The teaching area comprises the courses intended for the field of Veterinary Anatomy, Histology and Embryology in the Veterinary Licensing Ordinance (TAppV) and in the study regulations of the faculty. The research should preferably be related to one of the accent areas located at the faculty , such as Reparation and Regeneration, Reproduction, or one of the Justus Liebig University’s Giessen (JLU) areas of potential , e.g., the area of potential Infections, Inflammation and Medicines. Participation in graduate education within the framework of the International Giessen Graduate Centre for the Life Sciences (GGL) is expected as well as active collaboration in larger joint projects of the faculty, the JLU and the Research Campus of Central Hessen (FCMH). Requirements: Prerequisites for the position include a university degree, preferably in veterinary medicine, a relevant, first-rate doctoral degree, additional academic achievements (e.g. habilitation) and a special pedagogical aptitude. In addition, experience and success in the acquisition of external funding should be proven. Through its international relations with researchers (m/f/d) within and outside Europe, the professorship is intended to strengthen the international network of the faculty and the JLU. Integration of gender aspects in teaching and research is explicitly desired. In case the candidate exceeds the basic age limit of 50 years, a civil servant appointment under § 66 Para. 3 sentences 2 and 3 Hessian Higher Education Act (HessHG) in conjunction with § 11 Hessian Career Regulation (HLVO) requires a specific functional interest.
