The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Nutritional Sciences and Environmental Management invites applications for a
W2 Professorship in Sustainable and Functional Animal Nutrition as of now.
Reference is made to § 67 Para. 7 Hessian Higher Education Act (HessHG) and to conditions of employment based on § 68 HessHG. Proficient knowledge of German is expected.
The professorship is established in a departmental structure.
It is your task to teach courses in the field of sustainable and functional animal nutrition within the faculty´s bachelor and master programs, some of which are attended by students from other faculties or other study programs.
Participation in the development of study programs, in particular international study programs, is explicitly desired.
The readiness to collaborate within interdisciplinary research projects of the faculty and the university as well as the graduate programme of the International Giessen Graduate Centre for the Life Sciences (GGL) is expected.
In addition, the willingness to contribute to the establishment of the Centre for Sustainable Nutrition Systems (ZNE) at Justus Liebig University Giessen (JLU) is expected.
The main research focus should be in the field of sustainable and functional animal nutrition.
In accordance with the focus of the ZNE, a main research focus in the field of sustainable animal nutrition could be the development of feeding concepts, which are based on alternative and sustainable protein sources. Within the field of functional animal nutrition, feeding concepts should be developed that contribute to an improvement of animal health. In this respect, collaborations with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine are desired.
The utilization of modern scientific research methods, which also include the 3R concept, within the research work is expected.
Gender aspects should be taken into account in both research and teaching.
The fulfillment of the general conditions of employment, an excellent doctorate in a relevant subject area and additional academic achievements (e.g. proven by a habilitation in the field of animal nutrition or a comparable field) are required.
Experience and success in the acquisition of external funding should be proven.
The ability to teach in both German and English is required. The professorship should strengthen the international network of the faculty by its international relationships to researchers within EU and non-EU countries.
In case the candidate exceeds the basic age limit of 50 years, a civil servant appointment under § 66 Para. 3 sentences 2 and 3 Hessian Higher Education Act (HessHG) in conjunction with § 11 Hessian Career Regulation (HLVO) requires a specific functional interest.
