The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a
W2 Professorship (with W3 tenure track) in Biochemistry in Veterinary Medicine
provisionally limited to six years as of the earliest possible date.
Reference is made to § 70 Para. 1 and 4 Hessian Higher Education Act (HHG) and to conditions of employment based on § 68 HHG.
In case of eligibility, which will be evaluated according to § 70 Para. 2 HHG, a permanent W3 Professorship will be offered subsequently. Proficient knowledge of German is expected.
We expect candidates to represent the field of biochemistry in veterinary medicine together with the other professorship in veterinary biochemistry at the Institute of Veterinary Physiology and Biochemistry in research and teaching.
Teaching comprises the field of biochemistry according to the TAppV and the faculty’s study and examination regulations for the study programme in veterinary medicine.
Research activities should be related to the area of potential (PB) of the Justus Liebig University Giessen (JLU) regarding infections, inflammations and active substances and/or should be methodically related to the field of mass spectrometry.
The willingness to cooperate in interdisciplinary projects within the Research Campus of Central Hessen (FCMH) is expected as well as the participation in the Giessen Graduate Centre for the Life Sciences (GGL) and in the larger research networks of the JLU.
In addition, participation in JLU’s research networks in the field of poverty-related and/or neglected tropical infectious diseases is especially desired.
Moreover, cooperation with biochemical research groups other faculties is desired.
Prerequisites for the position include a degree, a relevant first-rate doctoral degree and additional scientific achievements (e.g. habilitation) as well as a specific pedagogic aptitude. In addition, experience and success in the acquisition of external funding should be proven.
The professorship should actively engage in further profiling of the faculty by creating its own international connections.
The integration of gender aspects in research and teaching is strongly encouraged.
In case the candidate exceeds the basic age limit of 50 years, a civil servant appointment under § 66 Para. 3 sentences 2 and 3 Hessian Higher Education Act (HHG) in conjunction with § 11 Hessian Career Regulation (HLVO) requires a specific functional interest.
