Job title: PD1 - Determinants of Mother-to-infant transfer of Microbiota (MicrobeMom)
Temporary Externally Funded Non Grant-in-Aid contract post, the indicative duration of which is 12 months, subject to contract.
A panel may be formed from which future similar vacancies may be filled; such a panel will remain active for a maximum period of 12 months.
The Teagasc post-doctoral programme provides training and development opportunities for early career scientists that enhances their experience of learning and equips them with the necessary skills for the next stage of their chosen career in research.
Teagasc seeks to recruit a highly motivated, ambitious post-doctoral scientist to fill this post.
This post-doctoral scientist should have a PhD in Microbiology or related discipline, with microbiology and molecular biology skills.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of clinical samples, DNA/RNA extraction, library preparation, sample preparation and quality assurance checks (DNA quantification, quantitative PCR, Bioanalyser) in advance of DNA sequencing.
Following sequencing they will be responsible for handling, storing and analyzing human microbiome bioinformatic data.
Analysis will involve determining the composition and functional potential of these microbial communities.
The successful candidate should be experienced in the analysis of DNA sequence data, particularly microbiota related data.
