Technical Manager for development of a raw milk compositional database (Research Officer) (Temporary)
The appointee will lead an analytical team conducting a programme of characterization of milk samples received at the Teagasc Food Research Centre, Moorepark, Fermoy, Co. Cork.
This technical manager will be required to coordinate this in-depth and broad ranging analytical programme, primarily focused on the chemical and physicochemical characterization of seasonally changing milk samples and occasionally of dairy product samples.
All samples will be generated through the activities of the Dairy Processing Technology Centre.
The appointee will be responsible for co-ordination of sample aliquot preparation, sample stabilization and storage, and dissemination of samples for other ancillary testing as part of the DPTC programme.
Candidates must have an honours Level 8 degree in Science or a related discipline.
Knowledge of analytical science with an understanding of dairy science and technology.
A postgraduate degree and/or research experience in Food Chemistry, Food Science and Technology, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, etc would be a distinct advantage
Experience in working with Dairy products
Experience in working within an analytical laboratory
An understanding of dairy food manufacture and the interpretation of analytical information.
