Horticultural Food Safety Technician (Temporary)
Temporary Externally Funded Non Grant-in-Aid contract post, the indicative duration of which is 38 months, subject to contract.
A panel may be formed from which future similar vacancies may be filled; such a panel will remain active for a maximum period of 12 months.
The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary research team at Teagasc Food Research Centre Ashtown, investigating strategies to improve the quality and saftey of horticulutral production systems.
While based within the Horticultural Development Department, the successful candidate will collaborate extensively with the Food Saftey Department, as well as universities also participating in the study.
The role will involve a mix of laboratory studies, sample collection and analysis and conducting field experiments.
- Candidates must have a Level 6 qualification in microbiology or a related discipline.
- A Level 7 qualification or higher in food microbiology / food science with some experience in food crops would be a distinct advantage
- Full Driving Licence
