The successful appointee will develop, lead and implement a research programme in the area of dairy-beef production systems with particular focus on the following:

Profitable pasture based dairy-beef production systems with reduced animal- and systems-level GHG emissions

Reducing the national slaughter age of beef cattle in pasture based dairy-beef systems through improved animal health, welfare, growth and feed efficiency

Animal feed intake and bodyweight gain from grazed pasture

The interactions between genetic merit and pasture based production system

Impact of production system on carcass characteristics and marketability of dairy-beef

the impact of calf rearing regimen on subsequent growth, feed efficiency and carcass characteristics

Location: Teagasc, Animal & Grassland, Research and Innovation Centre, Grange, Dunsany, Co. Meath.
