Research Officer - Environmental Microbiologist (Part-Time) (Temporary) (Ref: 143)
This post is to manage the day to day activities of the EPA-funded project, ‘Pesticide management for better water quality (PESTMAN)'.
Job requirements will include, but may not be limited to: preparation of reports for the EPA and for national and international scientific journals, assistance in the management of the PhD and Research Masters students, and preparation of health and safety documentation for laboratory and site work.
- To understand the drivers and pressures for the use of pesticides in the environment.
- To examine pesticides fate and persistence.
- To evaluate any potential impact and risks of pesticides to the environment and human health.
- To develop a low-cost, passive, in-situ method to remediate pesticides in the environment.
Candidates must have a QQI honours Level 8 degree in microbiology, environmental chemistry, environmental science, or a related discipline.
A postgraduate degree and/or research experience in microbiology, environmental chemistry, environmental science would be a distinct advantage.
