The School is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Digital Health.

There are opportunities for successful candidates to play a significant role in shaping and leading Bristolís activities in Digital Health including in our recently launched EPSRC-funded Centre for Doctoral Training in Digital Health and Care and our HDR-UK funded Digital Health MSc.

Teaching and teaching-related administration duties will be largely focussed on our increasing numbers of postgraduate students in the CDT and MSc in Digital Health.

This is a mix of home and overseas students with backgrounds ranging from Medicine, Medical Sciences, Psychology to Computer Science and Engineering.

We are seeking applicants with strong publication track records and an interest in building their own research activity within the discipline.

With the successful CDT, MSc and a large portfolio of Digital Health research (e.g. the £16M SPHERE programme), we believe that Bristol offers a unique environment for someone with the vision and ambition to lead the development and application of new digital technologies for health.

Candidates with research interests across the discipline are encouraged, with the ability to teach and supervise our multidisciplinary postgraduate students.

Relevant interests include (but are not limited to)

- digital techniques for behaviour change;
- self-management of long term health conditions;
- the analysis of health-related data, including machine learning and signal processing;
- the use of smartphones and wearables;
- the development of wearables and implantables;
- electronic sensing and processing of electrophysiological waveforms;
- responsible innovation;
- evaluation methodologies;
- health data security & ethics.

This is a broad and rapidly changing field, so if you are unsure of the suitability of your track-record, we encourage you to get in touch.

Please apply with a CV, a covering letter including a one-page statement that discusses your research plans in the context of the vision set out for the post in the Further Particulars.

For informal discussion about the post, you are welcome to contact:

Name: Professor Ian Craddock, Institutional Lead for Digital Health

Name: Professor Ian Nabney, Head of School.

Interviews are expected to take place shortly after the closing date.

We welcome applications from all members of our community and are particularly encouraging those from diverse groups, such as members of the LGBT+ and BAME communities, to join us.
