Job Reference: Contract Technician – VistaMilk - Ref: CT/VM/0819
The appointee will work on an SFI/DAFM funded VistaMilk project with the aim of integrating smart technologies in the design, performance analysis and identification of land drainage systems and the management of poorly drained soils.
The successful candidate will be working with sensors, monitoring equipment, farmers and research staff.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
•Work with research scientists and PhD students in developing and implementing precision technologies on poorly drained soils.
• Monitor and collect data from the various sensors deployed to measure soil properties and various elements of drainage systems and their functionality.
• Deploy remote sensing technologies to assess soils/landscapes.
• Oversee the functioning of on-farm monitoring equipment.
•Candidates must have a Level 6 qualification in Agriculture, Engineering or Land management or a related discipline.
• A Level 7 qualification in Agriculture, Engineering or Land management would be a distinct advantage.
