Research Technician - Heavy Soils and Environment (Ref: ERT/MP/0719)
The person appointed to this position will have a key role in assisting researchers with the heavy soils and environment research programmes at Moorepark. The successful candidate should be able to work both independently and as part of a team in a variety of capacities including the management of field experiments, data measurement and recording and laboratory analysis.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Assist in designing, implementing and monitoring soil drainage experiments.
•Measure and record environmental, grass production and utilization indicators.
•Oversee the layout of field experiments to establish experimental treatments.
•Manage field experiments ensuring treatments are applied as outlined in the experimental protocol.
•Record all experimental information accurately as prescribed in the experimental protocol using either manual or automated recording as appropriate, and assist in the preparation of experimental data for analysis.
•Prepare and analyse a range of biological material in the laboratory.
•Candidates must have a Level 6 Specific Purpose in Farm Administration and/or a Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Agriculture or a related discipline.
•Research experience in soils, grassland and environmental science.
