Full Title: Contract Research Officer – Dairy/Food Science & Technology (Ref: CRO/DPTC/MP/0719) (Externally Funded Non Grant-in-Aid)
The appointee will be involved in building and supporting the membrane fractionation platform within the Dairy Processing Technology Centre (DPTC) and will work strategically with Teagasc researchers, industry and academic partners.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
•Adapt new and existing technologies for the separation of microbes and other components from milk particularly in the context of the latter’s end use in applications such as infant, sports and advance medical nutrition.
•Map protein profiles and amino acid sequences of permeate/retentate streams from a range of different membranes processes.
•Map the partition of the milk microbiota during membrane filtration processes.
•Liaise with industry partners, project sponsors and key stakeholders, facilitating cross divisional alignment on specific project targets and goals.
•Develop the next generation of ceramic and organic membranes processes to address microbiological and in particular spore risks in dairy.
• Candidates must have an honours Level 8 degree in food science, microbiology, food engineering or a related discipline.
• A postgraduate degree and/or research experience in food science would be a distinct advantage.
