The Institute of Catholic Theology, Faculty of History and Cultural Studies invites applications for a
W2 Professorship in Practical Theology
with focus on Religious Education
as of October 1st, 2019
Reference is made to § 61 Para. 7 Hessian Higher Education Act (HHG) and to conditions of employment based on § 62 HHG. Proficient knowledge of German is expected.
A qualification in Religious Education is expected which, in addition to the doctorate, is proven by additional academic achievements (e.g. habilitation). In addition to broad knowledge of Religious Education, knowledge in other sections of Practical Theology are desirable. Internationally visible research work and successes in the independent acquisition of external fundings (DFG, BMBF) are required as well as a proven teaching experience in the breadth of the subject.
In accordance with § 62 Para. 4 HHG, proof of three years of practical experience in school teaching is regarded a requirement for a position with responsibilities concerning school pedagogy, teaching methodology or educational sciences.
The future incumbent of this professorship should represent the Religious Education broadly in research and teaching.
With respect to research, a focus on interdenominational and interfaith dialogue is desirable. Analysis of interdisciplinary problems is expected, as is development of teaching methods, which are sensitive for gender aspects and inclusive education.
Part of the job profile regarding teaching is participation in Catholic Theology in subjects of Teaching Degree Programmes and in Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree Programmes at the Faculty of History and Cultural Studies as well as teaching export for Teaching Degree Programmes in Ethics, Islamic Theology and the Bachelor “Adult and Continuing Education, Extracurricular Education“. It is expected that candidates are willing to further develop Teaching Degree Programmes – considering theological and teaching methodological problems of inter denominational learning and inclusion – and the Bachelor's and the Master's Degree Programmes.
