Strathclyde Chancellor's Fellow in Advanced Manufacturing & Materials.

Strathclyde Global Talent Programme

Be bold. Be innovative. Be a 'Strathclyder'

We are the University of Strathclyde. Our vision is bold and ground breaking, placing us amongst the world's leading international technological universities. We are vibrant, dynamic and passionate about solving the challenges facing society and industry through our cutting-edge, multi-disciplinary research, education and knowledge-exchange with global partners.

Through our Strathclyde Global Talent Programme we will recruit up to 75 outstanding academics - including Strathclyde Chancellor's Fellows - in areas of strategic importance. One area of importance is Advanced Manufacturing & Materials.

Our work in Advanced Manufacturing and Materials addresses the creation of products, production processes, and associated services through the development and application of leading-edge technical and organisational knowledge and expertise. Strathclyde is a key partner in Scotland's Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District, giving you the opportunity to collaborate with industry leaders from the outset. We are helping manufacturing business become world leaders in innovation as the anchor University in the new National Manufacturing Institute for Scotland and we are helping pharma companies adopt novel manufacturing techniques, as a strategic partner in the world's-first industry-led Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre.

If your advanced manufacturing and materials research focuses on any of the following areas, we'd love to hear from you:
  • Manufacturing technologies
  • Engineering design
  • Manufacturing systems & management
  • Digital manufacturing
  • Advanced materials
  • Product & process integrity
  • Sustainable design & manufacture
Normally appointed at Lecturer level (exceptionally at Senior Lecturer), the Fellowship will last for 5 years during which you will be supported to establish your career as a research leader and achieve rapid career progression. Fellows who meet the criteria for promotion by the end of the 5 year period will be transferred to an open-ended (tenured equivalent) academic appointment. You will also benefit from research portfolio growth, reduced teaching load and administrative duties and a range of support.

We would love to hear from you if you have a PhD and postdoctoral research experience; an emerging publication history in high quality academic journals; and research interests which align with this area of strategic priority - particularly if you already hold an external fellowship that can be transferred to us.

For further details and to apply to be a 'Strathclyder' in Advanced Manufacturing & Materials, impress us with your bold and innovative research plan at:
