Teagasc Post Doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 - Food Ingredients (Ref: PD1/B4F/AT/0818)
Basic Function of the post:
The Irish Agriculture and Food Development Authority is seeking to fill a short term position at Teagasc Food Research Centre Ashtown for an extraction technologist. The successful candidate will be involved in the extraction and fractionation of bioactive compounds from seaweeds. The primary role of the candidate is to develop a range of extraction technologies and chemical characterisation of a range of bioactives. The candidate will work in tandem with the research partners within the EU consortium comprising of Spain, Sweden, Germany and Norway in meeting the deliverables of the project.
Duties & Responsibilities specific to this project:
• Carryout research activities associated with the research project.
• Participate in a team of researchers in on-going research activities where appropriate.
• Deliver high quality research outputs leading to peer reviewed publication(s).
PhD in Chemical, Biochemical, Food Process Engineering or cognate disciplines.
Relevant research experience not to exceed 3 years’ post-PhD
• Experience in extraction technologies
• Experience in setting own research agenda
