The School is seeking to appoint a dynamic individual in the field of international and comparative education. The post is at 0.8 FTE and is for three years fixed term (31 July 2021) in the first instance. This is an exciting opportunity for an early career researcher who has recently completed their doctorate, but we will also welcome applicants from individuals with a track record of teaching at Higher Education level. Applications are sought from candidates who can demonstrate a broad knowledge base in the field of international and comparative education. You will be expected to have a good understanding of global and regional policy agendas including the sustainable development goals and theoretical understanding of the social justice implications of policy agendas. You will also have strengths in some of the following areas of education and development: inclusive approaches to teaching and learning, language and literacy in education, STEM and ICT in education, teacher education, education in post-conflict settings, assessment and evaluation, innovation in education, quantitative and/or qualitative methods in education and international development. These strengths may apply in one or more of the following delivery contexts including basic, non-formal, technical and vocational and higher education.
The successful individual will play an active role in the school’s research community, should be able to contribute to doctoral supervision, the development of research grants, and the production of high quality publications. The post holder would be expected to actively participate in the Centre for Comparative and International Research in Education.
Teaching responsibilities for the role will be shaped according to best fit, but there are opportunities to teach across a range of Masters, Undergraduate and Doctoral level teaching. Role holders are expected to take responsibility for unit design, building strong links between their research and their teaching practice.
