Due to the rapid growth of the team and ambitious plans for the future, the Faculty of Engineering’s Industrial Liaison Office (ILO) is looking to recruit a Research and Impact manager who will focus on supporting the Faculty’s research activities.
The Industrial Liaison Office facilitates industry engagement, supports a vibrant research community and helps students to enhance their employability so the ability to build effective working relationships is key to the success of this role. You must also be proactive, feel comfortable working on projects without detailed guidance, have good judgement when making decisions and be able to independently deliver high quality work. We need someone who is organised and able to competently deal with a busy workload, especially when there are potentially conflicting priorities.
You will have responsibility for working in partnership with the Faculty Research Director, School Research Directors and Impact Directors, Industrial Liaison Manager and colleagues in the Research and Enterprise Development team to developing and implement an ambitious research strategy for the Faculty which aligns with the aspirations of the Faculty’s Growth Strategy to 2030 and enables research impact to be maximised. You will also develop new ideas and methods for enhancing and promoting the research activity in the Faculty and helping the ILO to continually improve what we do.
We are looking for an experienced people manager, with a desire to help people to develop and committed to supporting them reach their full potential. As well as managing individuals in the ILO, you will work with the ILO Management team to increase the team ethos and to explore new ways to build strong links between the ~35 members of the team to facilitate mutual support and sharing of best practice.
Ideally you will already have experience of working in Higher Education, supporting engineering research and/or working on the development and implementation of research strategy.
The role is being offered on a part time (0.5 FTE) basis on an open-ended contract.
