Owing to the successful application to the German federal-state programme for promoting early-career researchers (tenure track programme), the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Nutritional Sciences and Environmental Management invites applications for the position of a
W1 Professorship (with W2 tenure track)
in Nutrition Sociology
The position is offered with the earliest possible starting date for a period of six years pursuant to § 64 Para. 3 and 4 Hessian Higher Education Act (HHG). According to § 64 Para. 3 HHG, the applicant should have gained a doctoral degree at an institution of higher education other than Justus Liebig University Giessen (JLU) or have been in academic employment at an institution other than JLU for at least two years after conferral of a doctoral degree. The duration of said post-doctoral employment may not exceed four years or, in the case of successful completion of further academic training pursuant to § 62 Para. 6 HHG, may not exceed seven years. In the case of successful completion of the six-year W1 position, which is to be assessed in an evaluation procedure pursuant to § 64 Para. 2 HHG, the appointment will be converted into a permanent W2 professorship. Proficient knowledge of German language is expected.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching within the faculty’s BSc and MSc study programs in German and English language. Participation in the further development of study programs is requested.
Applicant´s research should be focused on the social determinants of nutrition and nutrition behavior of individuals, private households and families. Experiences in research from the field of behavioral sciences are expected as well as the strong qualification of social science`s methodology. In addition, a final degree in Nutritional Science and Home Economics is welcomed. First experiences with the acquisition of external funding are desirable. In the course of academic employment at the JLU, the successful acquisition of external funding will be expected.
Readiness is expected to work interdisciplinary within the faculty and the research departments of the university. International networking is also expected. Gender aspects should directly be considered in teaching and research.
