W1 Professorship (with W2 tenure track)
for Innovation Economics in the Agri-Food Business
The position is offered with the earliest possible starting date for a period of six years pursuant to § 64 Para. 3 and 4 HHG (Hessian Higher Education Act). According to § 64 Para. 3 HHG, the applicant should have gained a doctoral degree at an institution of higher education other than Justus Liebig University Giessen (JLU) or have been in academic employment at an institution other than JLU for at least two years after conferral of a doctoral degree. The duration of said post-doctoral employment may not exceed four years or, in the case of successful completion of further academic training pursuant to § 62 Para. 6 HHG, may not exceed seven years. In the case of successful completion of the six-year W1 position, which is to be assessed in an evaluation procedure pursuant to § 64 Para. 2 HHG, the appointment will be converted into a permanent W2 professorship.
In addition to an outstanding doctorate, a special teaching ability to represent the field of research and teaching in its full capacity, is required. The person to be appointed should be designated in the field of agricultural and nutritional economics. First experiences with the acquisition of external funding are desirable. In the course of academic employment at the JLU, the successful acquisition of external funding will be expected.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching within the faculty’s BSc and MSc study programs in German and English language. During the qualification phase, candidates are required to offer 4 semester periods per week. Participation in the further development of study programs is requested. Areas of relevant research interests include, but are not limited to: the economic analysis of the technological and organizational change in the agri-food business initiated by innovations as a cross-thematic and interdisciplinary approach; impact of diverse institutional settings on different forms of innovations; knock-on effects of innovation on competition, business organization and on the acceptance behavior of consumers. The successful candidate is expected to have fundamental knowledge in microeconomics and strong quantitative research skills. Experience is expected in research cooperation with academic and non-academic partners on a national and international level.
Participation in the established core area in Economics for example the Entrepreneurship Cluster Mittelhessen (ECM) is also expected. The inclusion of gender aspects in research and teaching is desirable. Very good German and English proficiency is required.
