Applications are invited for the post of Research Associate/Senior Research Associate in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Bristol, in the field of micro/nano-electromechanical systems (MEMS / NEMS).

The appointee will work on the Innovate UK funded NEMICA project alongside partners form industry and academia, which has the goal of realising an FPGA using a fundamentally new digital logic technology based on nano-electromechanical (NEM) relays.

The research activities to be carried out by the post holder require a very thorough grounding in MEMS, and the ideal candidate will have experience in using relevant software tools for design, and also of working within a cleanroom for fabrication. Applicants should have a PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Physics, MEMS, NEMS, photonics or a related field, but applications from candidates who are about to graduate with a PhD, or who have equivalent experience are welcome.

The successful candidate will be part of the Microelectronics Research Group, and work closely with the Principal Investigator Dr. Dinesh Pamunuwa. This appointment represents an opportunity for a committed and motivated researcher to work at a premier British University in collaboration with a glittering array of partners, and establish a track record in a very novel area of semiconductor electronics. The appointee will be exposed to the latest industry practices in design, fabrication and assembly, and have the freedom to innovate.

This post is offered on a full time, open-ended contract with fixed term funding up to January 2019.
