Based in the world leading research team of Professor Stephen Eichhorn, within the Bristol Composites Institute at the University of Bristol, this is an exciting opportunity to join a strong team developing novel cellulosic gel materials for a variety of applications. As part of a wider project, funded by the EPSRC in collaboration with the Universities of Bath, UEA and the John Innes Centre, the researcher will join a vibrant team of researchers working towards state-of-the art applications of gels.
You will develop new gel systems, using both chemical and enzymatic approaches, with both industrial partners and with researchers conducting analytical measurements of the properties of gels (spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, NMR). The ability to use and interpret these analytical approaches to the properties of gel materials will be essential.
You will have at least a first degree, or equivalent level qualification, and preferably a PhD in Engineering/Physical Sciences/Materials Science (or closely related discipline) and have good experience of cellulosic or other gel materials. It will be necessary to have experience of analytical techniques, particularly spectroscopy and scattering.
This post is offered on an open ended full-time basis with funding currently fixed until 31 May 2020.
It is anticipated that interviews will take place on/around early November 2017.
