The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Nutritional Sciences and Environmental Management invites application for a
W2 Professorship in Nutrition and Immune System
as of October 1st, 2018
Reference is made to § 61 section 7 Hessisches Hochschulgesetz (HHG) and to conditions of employment based on § 62 HHG. Proficient knowledge of German is expected. The successful candidate will represent the faculty in teaching and research as follows:
Teaching has to be carried out predominantly in the BSc- and MSc-Programs Nutritional Sciences and Home Economics. Main focus in academic teaching should be given to nutrition and immune system, nutrition and metabolism as well as nutrition and pathophysiology. It is expected that the lectures will be offered in German as needed. Participation in the further development of study programs is requested.
The holder of the professorship is expected to focus her/his scientific research on the effect of nutrition on the immune system with respect to the prevention of pathophysiologic condition linked with inflammation. This in particular includes the influence of the nutritional status (obesity, undernutrition) of a person on the immune system with regard to diseases associated with obesity or undernutrition (such as the metabolic syndrome).
The applicant should be able to document publications in international peer-reviewed and high-ranked journals. Experience in raising third-party funds and in carrying out research projects is a prerequisite. Interdisciplinary work within the faculty and the research departments of the university as well as with non-university research facilities is expected. International networking is also expected. Gender issues should explicitly be integrated in the professorship’s research and teaching agenda.
