The Faculty of Biology and Chemistry invites applications for a
W3 Professorship of Inorganic Chemistry
as of April 1st, 2018
Reference is made to § 61 section 7 Hessisches Hochschulgesetz (HHG) and to conditions of employment based on § 62 HHG. Proficient knowledge of German is expected.
The candidates’ qualifications shall include pertinent research in a current field of inorganic chemistry and the necessary teaching skills to cover all subjects in all study courses involving inorganic chemistry.
The professorship shall be largely responsible for the field of crystal structure analysis, creating an interface with work groups focused on materials science, and/or life science. This involves contribution to one of the structure-building key research areas in the faculty of chemistry (e.g. materials science, imaging analysis, insect biotechnology, active ingredient research).
The candidate will be expected to cooperate with related disciplines in the JLU and associated universities, be integrated in high-profile national and international research networks and participate in graduate education.
Participation in establishing the Institute for Materials Recycling and Resource Strategies (IWKS) in cooperation with the Fraunhofer ISC in Hanau and Alzenau is expressly desired.
Successful acquisition of external funding, experience in project management and commitment to third-party financed joint projects is also expected.
Particular importance is attached to the further development of the faculty’s international profile, the expansion of existing research groups and the establishment of new research networks within the faculty and the willingness to offer teaching courses in English. The integration of gender aspects in teaching is desired.
