This position is available for a highly motivated researcher with expertise in animal physiology, cell biology, molecular biology and/or related disciplines. The researcher, who will be working as part of a team, is expected to undertake a wide range of sperm analysis tests, with the goal of identifying tests that are predictive of (i) sire field fertility and (ii) sire suitability for semen sorting.
Duties & Responsibilities specific to this project:
To develop a diverse suite of laboratory assays and techniques to evaluate semen quality, including molecular genetic and functional evaluation of sperm.
To combine multiple sources of data to predict semen fertility and identify bulls most suitable for sex-sorting
To provide support and mentorship for a PhD student
To closely interact with Industry and Research collaborators on the project
PhD in reproductive physiology, cell biology or molecular biology
Understanding of reproductive physiology in the bull
Experience in semen quality testing
Experience in setting own research agenda
